AARP Expanded Help for Veterans
AARP, an AgeWise Colorado Provider, has been broadening the help it provides to veterans. Colorado is home to an estimated 400,000 veterans, which makes its veteran percentage of the population higher than the national average. Earlier this year AARP launched the Veteran and Military Spouses Job Center (www.aarp.org/VetsJobCenter) to help with post-military job searching. This includes job search tools, online courses, and a jobs board. Other programs for veterans include AARP Veterans Fraud Center (www.aarp.org/VetsFraudCenter) that offers resources to track and thwart scams that target service-related pensions and benefits. There is also the Veteran Military Families Health Benefits Navigator (www.aarp.org/VetsHealthNavigator) to assist with qualifying for health benefits, which can be confusing, frustrating and time-consuming. A recently updated edition includes new sections focused on benefits for women veterans and also those with hearing, vision and dental needs.
