Colorado Women May Benefit from Social Security’s Focus

It’s no secret that Social Security can be a complicated labyrinth for anyone to explore. But it offers a not too well known specially focused section that can be a valuable resource for women. This is found at https://www.ssa.gov/people/women/. The site offers information on basic benefits and on survivor and disability benefits and includes benefits calculators. There is also information on Medicare, Supplemental Security Income, matters involving children, and more. “Women have challenging choices to make,” the site says. “Some may spend their entire adulthood in a career or job outside the home. Some may work for a few years, leave the labor force to raise children, and eventually return to work. And some may choose not to work outside the home at all. Whether you work, have worked, or have never worked outside the home, you need to understand how Social Security can help you and your family find financial security.” The site notes that under Social Security, lower-wage earners receive a higher percentage benefit than higher-wage earners do. Or to put it another way, women who are low-wage workers receive back more benefits in relation to lifetime earnings than do high-wage earners. Learn about other Social Security matters unique to women by visiting the site.
