Council on Aging Rates Chairlifts
For some older adults who desire to age in place and who do not have 100% main-level living, an automated chairlift can make a huge difference in both mobility and reduced risk of falls. There are many manufacturers of such lifts, and they come in different configurations — e.g., for straight or curved stairways, electric or battery operated, different weight capacities. Pricing varies widely. The National Council on Aging (NCOA) has conducted its own independent research, including consulting with physical and occupational therapists and reading consumer reviews, to arrive at what it says are the best chairlift values for 2023. Their results, by manufacturer and with price ranges, are as follows:
Editor’s Pick: Bruno ($3,800 – $11,000)
Best for Arthritis: Stannah ($3,400 – $8,800)
Most Affordable: AmeriGlide ($1,499 – $7,200)
Best Customer Reviews: Acorn ($3,200 – $10,000)
