- Senior Center services currently being provided include:
- Meals on Wheels; Congregate Meals: Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays at noon (suggested donation of $3 for ages 60+ or $11.00 meal for all guests under the age of 60). Reservations should be made by 9:00am by calling (719) 486-1774.
- Transportation for Medical & Dental Appointments: Monday – Friday by appointment only. Call Rachelle for availability at (719) 486-1774. We transport anywhere in Lake, Chaffee, Eagle & Summit Counties. At least a 24 hour notice is required for Lake County appointments and 48 hours for appointments in Chaffee, Eagle & Summit Counties. Rides are subject to availability.
- Durable Medical Equipment: The Senior Center receives donated used medical equipment from the community. Wheelchairs, walkers, canes and other equipment are available for use. Please call and inquire about our inventory.
- Errand Running: The Senior Center will provide a ride to Safeway or other businesses in Lake County on Wednesdays. Please call for more information and to sign-up.
- Shopping trips: The second Monday of the month, the Senior Center provides a ride to Walmart in Salida and quarterly to Target/City Market in Silverthorne Please call to sign-up.
- Computer Lab & Classes: Free internet and Zoom is available at the Senior Center by appointment only. Classes are provided quarterly. Please check the calendar for the next free computer class.
- Food Commodities: Free and available to qualifying seniors in Lake County, provided by the Food Bank of the Rockies. Please call the Senior Center for more information and to sign up. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
- Resources, Information & Referrals: The Senior Center provides resource information and referrals on aging services.
- Rent out the Senior Center: Need a special place in Leadville for your event or meeting? Affordable, private, comfortable, with beautiful views! Two large rooms for dining and dancing, plenty of parking, commercial kitchen, and pool table. Close to Huck Finn ice and skate park and dog park. Rent for half days or by the hour. Call for current rates: (719) 486-1774. Host your next family reunion, birthday party, wedding reception, baby shower or any other celebrations.
Food Assistance for Seniors
The Lake County Senior Center’s Food Bank has partnered with St. George’s Church for food distribution. St. George’s has a large food bank which is open to seniors on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9-1. The Senior Center provides transportation to the Pantry on Wednesdays at 9:00. Please call if you need a ride to the Pantry.
Lake County Senior Center Transportation Program
Transportation empowers seniors (ages 60 & over) to maintain their independence, ensuring greater mobility, health, and quality of life. The Lake County Senior Center provides reliable transportation with wheelchair accessible vans and bus for medical and dental appointments. The Senior Center also provides transportation for shopping and errands. Our trained staff and volunteer drivers serve seniors, ages 60 and over, with door-to-door transportation, however, seniors need to be able to transfer independently. Rides need to be pre-arranged at least 48 hours in advance and are subject to availability.
Please call (719) 486-1774 to book a ride. We provide transportation Monday-Friday. The Senior Center is closed on holidays and weekends.
