Lotus, a mission-driven technology company founded in the Bay Area, has created a gorgeous wearable ring that controls lights, fans, and TVs – all without any rewiring, smartphones, or even the internet.
Lotus was founded in 2021 by Dhaval Patel, an electrical engineer with 37 patents and former division manager at Apple for iPhone, Watch, and AirPods. The Lotus team has since grown to include a passionate group of Big Tech engineers as well as experts in healthcare, disability, and design. The Lotus Ring is their first product, and it has already garnered praise from early testers as a “game-changer”.
“Lotus builds technology that is usable by everybody by optimizing for disability first. Accessibility is always additive, never subtractive.”, shares Dhaval. “We are thrilled with the advancements we’ve made in design and functionality that have culminated in the Lotus Ring, a product that will empower people to be independent in their homes.”
Lotus is currently engaged in pilot programs with organizations throughout the country. As part of their human-centered design process, they are putting Lotus Ring prototypes into the hands and living spaces of key users, i.e. the 27 million Americans experiencing limited mobility. This includes older adults, veterans, and persons with disabilities.
The Lotus Kit is now available for pre-order on the Lotus website: www.getlotus.com
